Pages with Audio in Year 4

Image
Speaker, bottom right, shows an audio recording is attached. Audio recording editor. The students in Mr. Spilcker's class continued their learning of the Unit 'Beneath our Feet' by developing a report using Pages app on the iPad. The class learned to evaluate templates and utilise the text and image place holders on them to insert researched (from usage right permitted sources like www.photosforclass.com or www.pixabay.com )  or photographed images relevant to their unit of study via the Photo Gallery. Further, the students learned to insert audio to their report to emphasise the concepts they learned, specifically in this lesson describing the changes and processes they can see in a landscape. In addition they learned to label key landscape features on maps as well as the parts of a map using the shapes tool. The class will now reference the TWLH chart on the class padlet wall, their websites researched previously and their notes from the incursion by the

Drawing and Telling Number Books in KK

Image
Using inking and audio record to create separate number pages. The final product - movie accessed in the camera roll.  Number pages grouped into one book in Draw and Tell app. The students in Mrs McCulloch's class created a digital book about numbers using the Draw and Tell app. The whole class learned how to select a paper and ink a number using the straight and curved lines they know by watching a screen cast of the app on iPad to the projector screen using AirServer. Then in small groups students learned to add audio recordings to their artistic number pages. Following this everyone learned how to drag and drop their lovely numbers in the right order and then sit back watch and review as a video. Another great effort KK!

Showing Understanding with Digital Art in Year 1&2

Snow stencil for a winter diagram. A water cycle diagram. Stencils, text, stickers and inking. The rainbow ink feature came in handy for those creating Spring posters. The students in Mrs Summers class learned to use the free Draw and Tell app to demonstrate what they know about their Science topics seasons (Yr.1) and the water cycle (Yr. 2). The students selected papers that would suit their product (ca e.g. blue for the season spring. They also learned how to set stencils, input stickers and letters and record a description about their diagram using the audio record tool. The class will now develop an avatar (cyber safe model) to describe how the water cycle works or what are the features of each season and immerse their avatar with their diagram using Keynote app .

Investigating Activity Trackers in Year 6

Image
The students in Mr. Dowding's class investigated the accuracy of activity tracker devices by creating one with Microbit and analysing the results data. After creating code in pairs for counting and displaying steps on the Microbit, each group used their knowledge of accelerometers to trial the device, referred to as a pedometer, on different parts of the body for 20 steps per position. Each group then drew up a table in Pages app to record the results from this consistent data generation process and explored different ways to represent it as a type of graph. The groups will now develop an analysis of their data and make a statement about the best position on the body to wear a pedometer.

Digital Word Work in Year 3

Image
Creating a visual for a word of choice using the sketch pad in Notes app. Taking a photo of the word sort. Capturing the colour coded and final word sort. Using a table in Notes app to outline words of choice to sketch. The students in Mrs McMurray's class learned to use the Notes app on the iPad to provide them with ways to synthesise their Word Work learning. All students took a photo of their word lists and then sorted them by colour coding them and creating the 'Odd Ball' header too if necessary. They then created a table to outline which word of their own choice they wanted to create a visual of, with many choosing words they don't know. Finally, the class learned to use the sketch pad to create a visual of their chosen word using tools such as the ruler and compass to draw straight and right angle lines if needed. The students exported their sketches to the Photo Gallery and imported it to a project in pages. Next the class will look at recordin

Researching and Evaluating Information in Year 4

Image
Advanced Search results filtered for site: .gov & .org Evaluated websites posted on the class 'Beneath Our Feet Padlet Wall'.  The students in Mr. Spilcker's class continued their inquiry into the Unit 'Beneath Our Feet' for Science by learning to conduct Advanced Searches for information and identifying what makes a quality website. The class chose 2 'Wonderings' they wanted to investigate further from the class TWLH chart and posted these to the class Padlet wall adhering to the online communication guidelines learned last session. Then the students learned how to conduct a Google Advanced Search to search for information that is "free to use and share", as a usage right, for their own work. Finally, the class learned to filter their results further to a site search of websites with .gov or .org only. The class were impressed with the quality of their information and many answered their 'Wonderings' from the information they
